That almost sounds encouraging, as though the wearer is criticizing hippie voters for not participating previously.

Reminds me of a funny photo bit in the Onion from the 2000 election. It showed a hippie who had in fact voted, exiting the voting booth and noticably stoned. Caption said: Vote, Voter, Wasted.

I saw that t-shirt not so long ago, at the bluegrass festival in Winfield, KS, of all places. I couldn’t really decide what to think. I don’t think I even knew anyone who could legitimately be described as a hippy back in 2000. Were they as indifferent to political goings on as my then-19 year old self?
