Sadly I lack the requisite PowerPointiness for this linkage. But that's OK, since I plan to take a trip to Budapest this year anyway; Easyjet flies there from Bedminster Increasingly International Airport, which is just down the road, so the need for good excuses is sensibly diminished, which is good since I don't have one.Aside, at least, from wishing to see some the New EU Countries in their native habitat, and a fotofeature in Paris Match a couple of months ago, that is.

The synagogue-within-courtyard is quite extraordinary, a strange sight to behold. It's in Óbuda, if I recall correctly. (If not in Óbuda, somewhere up in that direction.) My wife and I managed to sneak into the building by tailgating a resident. Later, an ancient man tried to speak to us in Hungarian and Hebrew, neither of which we speak. I don't remember whether I tried German on him or decided that was an option best not used.

Very pretty, Eszter. Thanks. How nice it would be to have one of those apartments w/ the balcony over-looking the synagog and the river...The statue park is also interesting. There is one in Moscow, too, full of a large variety of ex-soviets and other more interesting things, some quite good. Derzhinsky and Stalin are there, along w/ Breshnev (SP?) and even Van Clyburn! It's a place I always encourage people to visit in Moscow.
