Eszter - I don't recall exactly. I think that I was on campus during the summer of 1991, but not enrolled until Autumn. Or maybe that was 1990.

April==rain in Ithaca. Actually, every month == rain in Ithaca, in greater or less quantities. Campus noted for green grass and for raining buckets every Friday in the summer. Snow and deer running across your lawn in the winter.

(I should know--I grew up there!)

I've been enjoying my visit lots. Thanks for the recommendations. I did a bit of walking around today and since the weather was nice (until the rain in the evening) it's been very pleasant to be outside. The place is beautiful, more so than what I remembered.

Etat - Were you in the summer college program as well??

Or since Eszter will be in Collegetown, she'll be closer to Cascadilla Creek. (Rhymes with Padilla.) When I think back to the old days, those good old days on the hill, I like to get out my A.R. Ammons.

Eszter, you have no doubt now discovered that Ithaca is not nearly as nice in April as it is in the summer.

We could very well have crossed paths in '91. But not this year...

If there's a spring thaw, make sure you get over to the Fall Creek Bridge to watch the spray. It's a short walk from central campus, and every bit as inspiring as the bigger displays at Taughannock Falls.

I would have used that campus-to-campus shuttle to see Gordon Atkinson at Cornell a few days ago. Unfortunately, the folks who devise the shuttle schedule are under the impression that no one ever visits Cornell from NYC for the weekend -- just vice versa.
