I don’t know whether Belle sent him an e-card but I had a dream last night in which I ran into Loudon Wainwright III on the street and wished him a happy birthday.

It was a little awkward.

The Spinners left Motown long before “Working my Way..” ( a Four Seasons song originally) I think it was on Atlantic, certainly after their first 3 Atlantic albums – I have “Mighty Love” & “Pick of the Litter” – it came out way after that..

I’m pretty sure that Al Stewart’s “Time Passages” was the very first 45 record I ever owned. It was either that, or the Spinners’ “Working My Way Back to You, Girl.” (What a weird combination: British folk-pop and disco-influenced Motown. I wish radio today had half the variety that FM stations still had as late as 1979.)

Even though he comes from a country where they turn back time? Sometime you’re bound to leave it, but I’d think he’d stay on at a little less than 61.
