The whole seminar can be downloaded as a single file, which makes me think that this seminar is probably as good as journals-driven seminars, the Crooked Timber acting as the academic veto (reviewing) point.
Alternatively, if someone wants to prettify it, I'm happy to make it available in rtf or some other easily modifiable form.

Yep, fair enough, this is definitely towards the 'ugly but functional' end of the spectrum. I've always wanted to learn how to use LaTex, but never quite had the time, and have been a bit put off by the difficulties that Kieran had with publishers (academic publishers in the social sciences seem not to be very well versed in it).

Not to be excessively negative (and not to expose my shallow focus on form over content), but I think you should talk to Kieran Healy about making PDFs that actually look good.

I don't normally pay much attention to the LaTeX > MSWord hype, but this is a case in point: LaTeX (with good fonts) really does default to something easier on the eyes.

I won't be using the PDF but I've certainly enjoyed - am enjoying - the seminar. Well done all involved.

Thanks a ton for making this PDF. I've printed material from CT before, to take (together with the book that was being discussed) with me when travelling; this is so much more userfriendly, a true gift, thanks!

Could you explain how you created the pdf? Including all the annoying technical details? I had wanted to do the same for this seminar, but could not see an easy way.

By painstakingly removing all the html formatting and reformatting as appropriate. No easy way that I am aware of I am afraid.
