13: I don't know about the All Blacks, but the commentary I hears said that Australia hadn't made any plans to return at this stage, couldn't get a flight from Paris, and were having to return via London. I'm sure they'll get a friendly reception!

It's likely that the all Black and Wallaby squads will be on the same flight home. I wonder if they'll agree to ask for asylum in each other's country?

Terence,

Ireland being compounded from Gaels and Galls, either reading would, as it happens, have been valid!

Now the Rockies are those with the most
as the Angels are turning to toast
the Cubs and the Yanks
are down in the tanks
while Sox, Indians, Diamondbacks boast.

Choke? The All Blacks were playing against 16 men! They had a man sent off for no reason and a try scored against them off a forward pass.

The Wallabies were the ones who put in a choker performance. :-p

mrs tilton: Oh. silly me. my sensitive New Zealand eyes read that as Galls this morning. Cheeky comment retracted.

In case anyone's wondering, the country seems to be holding together - thus far.

As the commentators have been pointing out all week, this World Cup has clearly shown that an excess of weak teams has left the sport of rugby in dire trouble in the <strike>Nor</strike>Southern Hemisphere.

Terence @5,

"Gaels that suck" might, just possibly, be read as referring to Ireland. Of course, a sufficiently large value of "Gaels" could include our Scots cousins as well; we shall see tomorrow whether Argentina dispatch them into suckage.

Whole countries evolve into jokes
Even whole regions:

There were two teams from the antipodes
Who measured things in reverse degrees
They let out a roar
When thy got the lesser score
Those two confused teams from the antipodes
