		<description>Without being an expert, adam, I would guess that in those high CO2 periods only small and isolated reefs of more acid-tolerant species survived further away from the equator.  They then reevolved to repopulate niches in the tropics over the many millions of years of more &quot;normal&quot; conditions.

IOW global warming doesn&#039;t threaten the very long-term existence of the coral family, just all existing major reefs.</description>
