Anyone knows that one of the top three rules of gun safety is, “Make sure the gun is unloaded and put the safety on, before getting a tattoo of it.”

What started as a tattoo ended in body piercing. All things considered, the gun got two for the price of one … a bargain in any book.

Another reason not to get a tattoo, I’d say.

2007 brought a story from Sweden about a hunter who was shot and wounded by a moose, by the way. Some would argue that the moose have now changed their tactics from random suicide attacks on cars to outright aggression. Maybe Norman Podhoretz will argue during 2008 that the US ought to bomb the moose as well as Iraq, Iran and whatever else comes in his way.

Puppy shoots Florida man, deputies say
Dog put paw on gun’s trigger as owner tried to kill him

PENSACOLA, Fla. – A man who tried to shoot seven puppies was shot himself when one of the dogs put its paw on the revolver’s trigger.

Jerry Allen Bradford, 37, was being treated at a hospital for a gunshot wound to his wrist.

…On Monday, Bradford was holding two puppies — one in his arms and another in his left hand — when the dog in his hand wiggled and put its paw on the trigger of the .38-caliber revolver. The gun then discharged, the sheriff’s report said.

Deputies found three of the puppies in a shallow grave outside Bradford’s home, said sheriff’s Sgt. Ted Roy.

The other four appeared to be in good health and were taken by Escambia County Animal Control, which planned to make them available for adoption.
