I discovered Matt last week … and was firmly set to believe it was all a visual hoax after he went gravity-free! But I checked it out and was impressed with what he’s done over the course of 4-5 years and with his sponsor.

Read the comments on his blog: he’s doing far more for world peace and the image of America than most folks being paid to do that stuff.

Clueless? I dunno, he managed to get funded to travel all over the world, and he persuaded crowds of people to join him doing silly stuff in front of a camera in quite a few of them. I wish I had the nous and the social ability to do the same. He’s now having 15 minutes of global goodwill in which he might, if he chooses, say something. I’ve never managed to engineer such an opportunity for myself. Go Matt. What’ve you done recently, engels?

Heart-warming. His solo act produced in 2005 was already impressive, this one would have taken even more guts and coordination, cool. (This coming from someone who's had her share of unorthodox photo situations so I really appreciate what something like this would take.)
