This is not a new technology. The girl across the street got the same type of doll for Christmas when I was a kid and that was at least 30 years ago. As I recall, the utter grossness of it was part of its strange appeal. It had duel functions--You got to both nurture your plastic faux baby and freak out the other kids a la 'slime' or 'garbage pail kids' with the contents of its diaper. One of my favorite movies.

And she continued to write notes to that effect over and over again all the past month. Which is pretty good for a four year-old. No doubt she'll tire of it soon enough.
