This story reminded me of an old Smothers Brothers song, "Anne Marie and Jean Pierre." It's adorable. I can't find a clip online, but this story has spurred me to buy the album on Amazon....

I'm in serious laughing/crying mode over this, as I already have a four year-old teenage girl here at home. Trying to think how funny it will be when she calls me from the Elvis Chapel in Vegas in two years' time...

Still, a lovely story as it happened.

Cute story.

I did the same "run away for a day" thing when I was a kid, pretty regularly, with my grandmother packing my hanky tied to a stick. My inspiration though was Snufkin from the Moomintroll books who always went south every winter. I even got me a harmonica though never learned to play.

The story was cute, if not alarming.

Wow. I though I was ambitious as a kid. I remember having a lot of big ideas. My plans were always hampered by a significant lack of planning and poor execution. Not these three.
