Oh, man, if you call Cerebus 'Cerberus' the comic book god store owner really WILL smite you.

But point taken.

The thing is to remember is that once Man frolicked in a happier pagan time, when every tree and babbling brook, every slightly notable medium-sized rock - if not every last blade of grass - had its own patron god or spirit. This is a clue to the pagan godliness of the comic book store guy. Heidegger writes about as Komicszuhandigkeit. The ready-to-handness of comics. Comics 'showing up'. For free, for example. This is what makes the comic story guy a kind of 'god', if you will.

A friend of mine who doesn't normally read comic books took advantage of this last year and was creeped out by the guy who seemed to view the comic book store owner as a kind of God and who declared, in that special nerdy nasally voice, "I thought about starting Cerberus, but I don't think I'm ready for the lifestyle change."

Still, the fact remains that I live two blocks from a participating location.
