Zombies walking

by John Q on April 6, 2010

I sent the manuscript of Zombie Economics off to Princeton University Press last night. There’s still plenty of work (figures, index, copyediting, some last-minute changes, galleys) to be done for a planned release at Halloween. But this is the official submission. In writing the preface I checked over the comments I’d received, here and at my blog. Several thousand in total, from more than a hundred different commenters. Thanks to everyone who took part. It was a huge help and encouragement to me.

…a planned release at Halloween.

BRILLIANT

…adding that, it might be better to officially release the week before e.g. 10-24 or so, just so that the book is assuredly in booksellers’ hands some time before Halloween, so it can be displayed in Halloween displays. (?)

Looking forward to it, John; the threads about it have been hugely informative to me.

Good.I’m going to try to remember, so I can review it for the Austin paper.

@Salient All going well, it should be on the shelves for Halloween. Trick or treat your economist friends!

You sent off a manuscript? In 2010? The sailing ship won´t reach San Diego before May.

James, he might have meant ‘manuscript’ as in ‘I attached it to an “e-mail”‘.

Hmmm, same problems as on Henry’s post. Long posts don’t go through.

James, you forget that I had to post this news from Australia to this weblog thingy. By the time you get to read it on the Intertubes, my manuscript will be coming off the docks in New York. BTW, while it was interesting writing a book, I think I’ll use of those new-fangled typewriters next time. I’m so tired of sharpening the point on my quill.

John, just use a hollow fang from a poisonous snake. From what I’ve heard, they positively litter the ground Down Under. Just check; you probably have a few in the house right now.

“John, just use a hollow fang from a poisonous snake.”

My wife threw one out the other week*, and of course now I’m looking for a fang and I can’t find one anywhere. Ain’t it always the way.

* Probably not venomous or not very, as we in Brisbane only get browns, blacks, tigers and death adders (no taipans except in the outer exurbs, thank goodness) and it wasn’t any of those. Maybe a green tree snake.

I guess you know it’s Australia when they bashfully say that they only have a *few* species of poisonous snakes in their locale :)
