Sorry. Comments from the other Guardian pieces you can find through the obit page. Besides all the ghastliness about the role of class in Britain, I am left to imagine the frustrations of a great natural talent that was never tamed and put to work in a regular way. As, for instance, with Dennis Potter. Maybe that kind of ability is simply beyond control, like a visitation from somewhere else.
