As Kitty Kelly’s hatchet-job on the Bush family nears publication, lots of people are linking to these additional revelations about George W. Bush by the Poorman. And you know what? So am I, because they’re great. Go read, especially if you are a staff writer for the Kerry campaign.
pretty much a rehash to those who know anything at all about the Bush clan.
This is really a new low. John Kerry’s war record from thirty years ago is fair game, because John Kerry is running as a war candidate.
The Left in this country is intent on dwelling in the past. Well, I’ve got news for you: George Bush isn’t running on things that happened 5, 10, 30 weeks ago. He’s running on things that are going to happen in the future — the place that we’ll all spend the rest of our lives. If John Kerry is elected president, swarthy francophone trial lawyer freedom fighters will descend on this country with impunity and force your grandmother to take “prescription drugs” that might — we don’t know — have been cooked up in a Canadian meth lab, and then sue you for everything you’re worth. Is that what you want? I don’t want that, and I don’t even know your grandmother.
As important as integrity is to some of us (Clinton lied about a consensual affair while Bush lied (and continues to) about his unfulfilled obligations to the National Guard, ie the nation itself), it plainly doesn’t matter to a lot of voters. The Right has been extremely successful at framing issues to their advantage, to the point where the word ‘liberal’ is a smear: if someone produced verifiable proof of George Bush doing cocaine on his desk in the Oval Office, it wouldn’t matter to his core supporters.
Eric Alterman sums it up:There’s no question that Osama bin Laden would prefer a Bush victory to a Kerry victory. The man may be evil but he’s not crazy. Would Kerry have let him get a way at Tora Bora? Would Kerry have launched an anti-American terrorist recruitment drive in Iraq? Would Kerry have alienated the entire world from the fight against Al Qaida and made bin Laden a more poplar figure in the Arab world than the president of the United States? (Saddam Hussein, too, by the way.) And would Kerry have starved homeland security to fight a counterproductive war, thereby ensuring the effectiveness of the next attack? But what I don’t understand is, why is Cheney admitting all this?
I know this is all good fun (and the PoorMan is hilarious) but four more years of what we’ve just been through won’t be funny at all.
This is not a legitimate story. To protect my journalistic integrity, I intend to link only to stories about people linking to the story.
Bush snorted at Camp David, paid for an illegal abortion and went AWOL. Damn, he is certainly someone I would party with!
If Bush went AWOL, or snorted coke at Camp David, or paid for an illegal abortion, or dabbled in homosexual acts, I would hope he appears before a judge and accepts his punishment like the Born-Again Christian he loves to pretend to be.
She is dead. Couldn’t afford her medications and then at the hospital they accidentally wrote “Do Not Resuscitate” on her chart.
Are they really gonna sue me and take away my Nintendo set? Thanks, I’ll vote for Bush then.
JDW:
“This is really a new low. John Kerry’s war record from thirty years ago is fair game, because John Kerry is running as a war candidate.”
As 9/11 opposed 9/11 to 9/11 Bush 9/11?
psst … barry. I think jdw was “playing a role.”
You libruls still don’t understand that since 9/11 everything has changed! Well, maybe everything but Bush…
You libruls still don’t understand that since 9/11 everything has changed! Well, maybe everything but Bush…
Anyway, I think Bush is Bi-sexual (or at least experimented with some men) and is more nihilistic than many are willing to believe. He always remained on the outskirts of masculine stuff. Couldn’t make the team, so became a cheerleader. I think he was scared shitless of the Nam, so joined the National Guard, to be around some soldiers. He is terrified of being questioned and confronted, especially where his manhood is concerned, which you get a lot of in team sports and platoons, so avoided them like the plague. Only joined men’s clubs that would not question his masculinity.
Bush’s character problem isn’t his youth — it is his repentence for his youth. From all accounts, he took being born again very seriously, and turned against the carnal frivolities he had once enjoyed. The fundamentalist side of Bush — the side that makes tax cuts and going to war in Iraq religious dogmas — is the dangerous one. Let’s hope that Kelly’s book reminds W. of just how much fun he used to be. He needs to get in touch with the guy who had the sense to declare his own private peace with the NLF long before Nixon did.
No, you people are forgetting—it’s all clinton’s fault! Ever since that meeting with Hillary, the snake and the apple in the White House garden . . .
Bush is a freedom- loving Libertarian!!!
Hm. Any chance on Bush pulling a McGreevey before the election?
paid for an illegal abortion
Chump. Only total losers pay for illegal abortions. I say, ya get the illegal abortion and then it’s “Adios, Dr. Sucker!” Like what’s he gonna do? Call the cops?
laughable!
thanks for the like Kieran, great humor.!

“George Bush isn’t running on things that happened 5, 10, 30 weeks ago. He’s running on things that are going to happen in the future”
Quite so and that is just what seems to be troubling most of the world judging by report of an international poll in Thursday’s Financial Times:
“World opinion is overwhelmingly in favour of John Kerry, the Democratic candidate, to win the US presidential election, according to a poll covering 35 countries. In 30 countries, many of them staunch allies of the US, the public favoured Mr Kerry over President George W. Bush by a two-to-one margin, according to a poll conducted by GlobeScan, a public opinion group, and the University of Maryland.
“Only Poland, Nigeria and the Philippines backed Mr Bush, while India and Thailand were a statistical tie. Both the poll and a separate survey of transatlantic trends, released on Thursday, show rising international mistrust of the US across the world.”

Do any of them need a president? We could work something out.
