Koufax Awards

Posted by Kieran

The 2003 Koufax Awards, hosted by Wampum, are now at the voting stage. Four CT members are nominated in the Best Writing category. Best Group Blog nominees are still to be revealed, though I think we’ll be on the list. Head over there and cast your vote. Remember, as Churchill said, “Crooked Timber is the worst blog, except for the all the others that have been read from time to time.” Similarly, Isaiah Berlin once remarked to me at High Table that “The Instapundit knows one thing; Crooked Timber knows many big things.” Or words to that effect.

Surely this should be transcribed as the Insta-hedgehog knows one big idea which it builds into unipolar way of interpreting and seeing the world, while the CT skulk has many diverse ideas, allowing them to explore their environment through a number of different ways. As one prospective grad student who pondered whether to do his thesis on Berlin’s philosophy or not, exclaimed to me, “his big idea, is that there are no big ideas”.

I would like to grumble about the category “Best Group Blog”, which I am sure robbed us of our rightful “Best Blog” nominations. Rassen Frassen Cinematography Award Frassen Foreign Film Frassen.

Did you notice that we won the Weblog of the Year award from Andrew Northrup? Go us.

“You, sir, will still be witty in the morning.”
Rassen Frasen is not typed often enough.

Congrats to Crooked Timber and its individual members for being the Amadeus of the Koufax Awards.

In honor of Mr. Berlin, I’d like to recommend the subtitle of CT be changed to “The Foxy Blog.”
