Sunday photoblogging: Staircase

by Chris Bertram on April 13, 2014

I met up with Ingrid recently and she reminded me that we had plans to run a regular photoblogging series at Crooked Timber, indeed, we actually started one. So here’s a re-start. This is the staircase at the Musée des Beaux Arts at Nancy, France, taken last summer. Here’s hoping that other CTers will join in.

Here’s one of the school nextdoors, from earlier this spring:

A view from the terrace of a restaurant in the small town of Colonnata, in the Carrara marble-quarrying district.

Do the CT gremlins prefer this embed code?

All very nice so far !
I don’t have a fl*ckr so instead will put them on an old blog I never use. This is a pretty amazing mural I thought.

@Ronan
Good photos; what is the location of that mural (if you don’t mind saying)?

Glad to see commenters posting links to their photos. It wasn’t quite what I intended, which was to restart a series of Sunday photo postings that I hoped other CT members might join in with on subsequent Sundays. But some things work out for the best anyway, and I’m planning a different photo next Sunday.

LFC – no problem, ask away ; ) It was in Bethlehem (IIRC) on the security fence. Most of the pictures I found on my desktop were completly out of focus (or I forgot to turn on the flash, or something) so I was left with about 10-20 to choose from)

That’s a really brilliant photo — the shadows are really great. Thanks. I don’t have any staircase-relevant photos, I don’t think, but in keeping with the vague traveling theme, here’s one I took while on a trip to India a couple of summers ago. (It’s at the Taj Mahal, tho it’s obviously not the Taj Mahal.)

This is also not a staircase, but from the Dom at Koln (Cologne) – somehow similar to the staircase photo

(doesn’t show the colour of the stained glass windows though)

Ah sorry link didn’t quite work right – meant to bring up just the top photo.

I didn’t fully notice the light/shadow thing in the photo until js. mentioned it (which probably proves something, though I’m not sure what). Js.’ own linked photo is quite good too.
