Snappy!

by John Holbo on October 23, 2016

In case my Kant-to-Hegel post is a bit heavy, for a Sunday, here’s a snappy, snazzy guy I spotted in the Library of Congress Flickr feed.

B. Zirato (LOC)

Note how this guy seems to be leading with his … thighs? Can he walk like that? Looks like a Zim cartoon/caricature. It’s a good look.

Chris Bertram is, of course, free to post his own Sunday photo later. I don’t mean to horn in on his territory!

nice photo – and there is a paper by Robert K. Bloomer, Ph.D., Associate Professor,
European Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, State University of New York at Stony Brook where you might find a photo not of the bushes of ‘Tubingen’ – but the trees of Tübingen – where ‘all the young theologians of the Tubingen seminary went off right away’ -(at ‘the honeymoon of German philosophy’.)

And I agree:
‘The most unfair thing we can do to this entire rapturously enthusiastic movement, which was adolescent, no matter how much it boldly dressed itself up in gray and senile ideas, is to take it seriously and treat it with something like moral indignation.’

You could plausibly do a back-and-forth fencing shuffle like that (the almost-right-angle orientation of the feet is, I think, fairly typical of martial-arts postures, especially for sword-fighting).

Or maybe he’s about to start tap-dancing…

That is excellent to know! Guess it was misdated.

How stiff might those, admittedly sharp, boots he’s wearing be? His leg positioning reminds me of how one must stand at rest in downhill ski boots.
