I remember, from back in 1976 (or around there), the very first episode of the Saturday Night Live sketch “The Coneheads”. This is about a family of extraterrestrials who have bungled their mission to take over the earth and have settled for blending in. Laraine Newman entered wearing winter clothes and a high pointed knitted wool hat She slowly removed the hat to reveal a bald cone head.
I believe that Frank Zappa showed up later to be her date.
There were a lot more Conehead sketches after that, but it would be hard to match the shock value of the initial hat removal.
Although Cranio was able to brainwash the Sentry, he was eventually defeated
with the Sentry’s sidekick Scout tossing him between two mental Analyzer Poles.
