Dear Chris Bertram , as a amateur photographer myself this has too much dynamic range (HDR) for my taste. Why not let the blacks be black? Thanks for your essential work on immigration issues.

Nice. I wonder what people are doing with them now?

I love this photo. It reminded me of one I took on the lower east side of NYC.

Hi Philippe, I took a look at my files to see what I’d done in Lightroom and in fact I’d not done very much at all, with no boost to shadows or movement of black or white points, just some boosting of clarity and a little work to stop the sky from being blown out.

Very nice shot and presentation.

Is that the Speicherstadt? I remember visiting it 30 years ago when it was still – just about – a functioning warehouse district. Seem to remember later controversy about its redevelopment. Lovely photo.

Gorgeous. I love the contrast of the buildings against the water they stand directly by. It reminds me a lot of Tampere, in Finland.
