Gulls, plural: the gull in the foreground is a Herring Gull, but there are at least 2 adult Lesser Black-Backed Gulls in the water. The fun trick is deciding how many of the immature gulls are Herring, and how many are LBBs …
Lovely, cheeky photo! I’m curious, how did you achieve such depth of field? The level of near-full focus that you’ve achieved could have been captured with a wide-angle lens but that would have distorted the shapes in the foreground. With a standard lens, I’m not sure that even an f-stop of, say, ~11 would have given such depth of field. You mentioned a month ago or so when you posted some birds in flight that you’d consulted the manual regarding your camera settings so I’m assuming there’s no cell phone computation/magic going on. Do tell!
@cooperawg The camera is a Panasonic GX80/85, which is Micro 4/3 so you’re already getting greater DOF from the smaller sensor size, the lens is a LEICA DG SUMMILUX 25/F1.4 set to ƒ/5.6.

To my eyes, the bit of yellow/orange makes all the difference in this picture.

Great color framing for sure.

Indeed it does. That’s an interesting color, not to be named, but arrived at by mixing on the palette.
