The Jamaican experience in Bristol

by Chris Bertram on April 2, 2010

This is pretty good, though it tails off towards the end. The material about breaking the “colour bar” on the Bristol buses, the St Paul’s riot of 1980 and the growth of drugs in the 1990s is all very well done. That was very nice, thanks! I used to live near not too far for a short while (a bit more to the east), so it was good to see places again. The area had a bad name, Easton even more, in a way that made it clear that there was history I wasn’t aware off.

It was pretty strong, even coworkers from out of town would suggest moving elsewhere, and people from around told me they didn’t put their adresses on job applications because of the stigma.

V interesting, and Playlist works well to overcome the need to split videos in short YouTube segments.

isn’t it a bit misleading when they flash a sign that says ‘haiti’ right at the beginning, as the narrator talks about british colonies in the caribbean?
