Before the cock crows, you will deny the “flypaper” theory three times

by Ted on September 15, 2003

Jim Henley at Unqualified Offerings has the best post I’ve seen in the highly competitive field of flypaper-theory-debunking.

I can’t improve on it. But I’m going to make a prediction that I feel pretty good about: a year from now, no one will be very proud of the flypaper theory.

Heck, the flypaper theory only came into being because of the ‘and then a miracle happens’ theory collapsed upon contact with reality.

But no matter, there will not be a shortage of people eager to defend whatever plate of steaming BS is served up by this administration. What will cause the administration problems is that things are so clearly not
going well. The American people don’t care about the lies; they do care about things going clearly badly.

Is anyone really “proud” of it now? It’s a rationalization, a temporary stop-gap taken up by Bush apologists while they wait for the next big production. They should have been out of Iraq by now and already into Syria or Iran. It was going to be a magnificent road show of US omnipotence. That didn’t work out; so they have to pretend that they had some other “strategy” in mind.

The trouble is that many of the apologists
are proud of it.

You know, I’m at the point with these guys
that I just wish I could make some money off
of them.
