Someone Comes to Town, Someone Leaves Town

by Henry Farrell on June 21, 2004

I’ve spent the last few hours doing something that I’ve meant to do for months; going through the academic blogroll to see what updates and changes need to be made. I’ve marked blogs which haven’t been updated in several months as ‘moribund.’ Those which I’m not sure about, I’ve added a question mark to. Some, which seem to have disappeared entirely, I’ve removed from the blogroll. These include “Chun the Unavoidable,” who I’m sort of sorry to see go – the _Invisible Adjunct_ once remarked that he took trolling to a higher level, and I reckon that’s about right. On the other hand, it’s nice to see that “Jeff Cooper”: is back – and with what appears to be good news.

I’m sure that there are still some inaccuracies in the blogroll – feel free to let me know, either by comments or by email. Also, I know that I’ve missed out on some new academics in the blogosphere during my month of travelling; if you want to be in the academic blogroll, and meet the “criteria”: send me an email.

A lot of very good new philosophy group blogs have emerged recently. Some examples missing from your list would be Arizona’s Desert Landscapes, and all the new topical ones like Garden of Forking Paths, Certain Doubts, Experimental Philosophy, etc.

For links to these and others, consult David Chalmers’ very good list of philosophical weblogs.

Also, it would be great if you could consider adding my own Philosophy, et cetera to the list. Technically, I’m only an undergrad, not a PhD student, so I don’t quite make the #1 criterion. But I think my blog fits the #3 option. Anyway, have a quick look and see if you agree.

We can’t properly thank you for all the work you’ve done on the blog. For my part, I’ll put in a submission that you get extra use of the CT helicopter in FY 2005.

Gosh, Henry, I emailed you weeks and weeks ago about adding General Glut’s Globblog to the economics academic blogs list. Or won’t you add a political economist to that august group?

The Virtual Tophet is back! And I only noticed the shame of being declared ‘moribund?’ after I starting posting again, honestly…

What stole Chun? He vanished when I wasn’t looking, momentarily distracted by the six thousand other great blogs you list.

Is there any reason that you don’t link to Language Hat ( )? I use CT’s blogroll for almost all of my blog-reading, except for having to type in LH’s address. Entertaining, inoffensive, intellectual and carefully scholarly, though I have no info on his work status, seems to meet your criteria. Just curious – I have no right to demand you save me the work of typing.
