Further evidence that blogging has eclipsed the Traditional Publishing Model.
Exhibit A. How to Talk About Books You Haven’t Read, by Pierre Bayard (2007). “A witty and useful piece of literary sociology” (LRB), “funny, smart, and so true” (Clare Messud), “evidently much in need” (NYT), “The runaway French bestseller … that readers everywhere will be talking about—and despite themselves, reading—this holiday season.”
Exhibit B. Books I Did Not Read This Year, by Kieran Healy (2003). “A blog post” (Me).

Those interested in Exhibit A will be happy to know that it will be available in unabridged audio formats.

I haven’t read this post properly, but a brief glance suffices to confirm my view that its author, Henry, is a lackey of Islamofascism and a global warming alarmist.

I already didn’t read Bayard’s book when it was only out in French.

des von bladet 10.15.07 at 2:09 pm

Further evidence that blogging is a complete waste of the blogger’s energies.
You had all of the ideas, and put them better. He came along later, and his contribution was…having it published on dead trees.
Now he’s famous, and wealthy too, and you’re a poor obscure academic, rotting in poverty.
Yeah, we’re totally killing the publishing industry.
