“ABC news runs a story”:http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2006/10/warnings_about_.html under the headline “Warning Signs about Foley Ignored for at least Five Years.”
“No one in the Republican leadership, nor Congressman Shimkus, saw those messages until last Friday when ABC News released them to the public,” said Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert (R-IL). But there were lots of warning signs. In 2001, pages were warned to be careful with Foley. In 2005, one page complained to his congressman about “sick” e-mails from Foley, a complaint passed on to the Speaker’s staff.”
You can see how the story is taking shape. I expect soon we will learn of the existence of a Presidential daily briefing headed “FOLEY DETERMINED TO STROKE IN U.S. CONGRESS.”

Ahh a snark of perfection. I appreciate that.

In a cross-media, cross-time cross-post, The Daily Show rendered this idea 2 hours later as a memo headed “Mark Foley determined to strike inside 15-year-old”.

ABC News (via Mr. Black) decided to run with Boehner Points Finger at the Speaker, which might have been better without the “finger,” but has to be a contender for multiple-entendre headline of the day.

I think the republican spinners should run with it. My thought is if they want us to be seen as Athens fighting Sparta, the whole thing should be a source of pride.

But… it was merely a historical document.

Tuesday’s IM release seems to indicate Rep. Foley did indeed “stroke in Congress,” as he left the House floor during a vote to IM one of his young friends. It seems they reached some sort of climax during their messaging…. Not on the floor of the House, but defintely within the halls or cloakroom of the House.
