I visited Pajamas Media today and it looks like they’ve adopted the same model as public broadcasting – a couple of public service ads for the a girls-and-technology initiative from the Girl Scouts (quite a good one, I thought) and ads for PJM itself, but, as far as I can see, no commercials.

Is this intended to be ironic? If so, I don’t get it.
I just visited and there are two skyscrapers on the right. . one for JoinRudy2008 (cause freedom is authority!) and one for a Qwest bundle.

Curiouser and curiouser. Maybe Australian readers get the commercial-free version.

Adblock?

Could this have anything to do with the price they find they can charge for commercials?

Two skyscapers and a Guiliani ad…the symbolism is overwhelming!

No commercials in the Irish version either.

Download HOSTS file from here http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm and you won’t see any ads for a while. And your browser will work faster and use less bandwidth.
Hell, you can even add an entry to 127.0.0.1 pajamasmedia.com and you won’t see the pajamas thing ever again.

I believe they may be sponsored indirectly by the pharaceutical and oil industries

Glenn Reynolds seems to use the same hosting for the Pajamas ads — are those not seeing the ads on PJM seeing any skyscrapers to the right of the HehIndeedys on his site?

I got 2 ads for Rudy, both huge, like others. Visiting from the Midwest.

I saw the same Girl Scout ad on a several sites affiliated with Pajamas Media (Dan Drezner’s for example). I’d say the Giuliani advertisers must have requested that the ad only be served to US addresses and that PJM haven’t been able to sell space in other markets.

I see the same two ads as Quiggin, from a non-US, not-blocking-anything browser.
