The ads Google serves up when you are searching for philosophy terms are often a bit odd.

hotelmodusvivendi

The service is iffy, the staff are surly, but 80% off is pretty good! What’s the alternative, when you get right down to it?

I think Montaigne often wore Modus Vivendi brand underwear:

“The indocile liberty of this member is very remarkable, so importunately unruly in its tumidity and impatience, when we do not require it, and so unseasonably disobedient, when we stand most in need of it: so imperiously contesting in authority with the will, and with so much haughty obstinacy denying all solicitation, both of hand and mind.”

Yes but Nick, I think there may simply be something about the nature of acquiring continental breakfast at the Hotel MV that requires these agonistic tendencies, however violent and reminiscent of The Drones Club the rolls-throwing may look to an outsider. The question is really, how may we best fight for a place in line for the continental breakfast?

Ya’ll is wrong about the breakfast. The line up is for the gnosis check at the door. Then it’s all soul food buffet, my sisters and brothers.

In America, we get underwear and swimwear. In Singapore, they get hotels in Europe. You get all the way from lowest common denominator to highest aspiration in SG. We Americans, we is being ‘geographically profiled’ by AdWords.
