Orin Kerr

by Kieran Healy on March 13, 2006

Orin Kerr has partly detached himself from the Volokh Conspiracy and now has a new blog of his own, which will focus mostly on legal analysis “with an emphasis on current legal debates and a broader perspective on the legal academy and the legal profession.” The opening in the ideological vacancy chain created by this move will, I think, come to be occupied by Randy Barnett.

Assuming that the “vacancy” at issue is for “Libertarian with (comparatively) strong Democrat sympathies”, I’m seeing Kerr having filled the Jacob Levy vacancy, and any future filling having to come from the outside.

Randy would have to move too far left, and his vacancy would be harder to fill. I’m picturing someone along the lines of Will Baude from Crescat, or one of the co-bloggers from Concurring Opinions.
