this is great (in terms of lines and minimalism/colours) – and it also has something slightly spooky, given the lack of leaves.

Beautiful. Of course, in Australia, magpies (no relation to European magpies) are ferocious killers, like nearly all our fauna and some of our flora.
Cyclists a favored human target, with regular injuries and occasional deaths.

Against a pale blue sky, two round birds on bare brown stalks, their beaks askew.
