Are there any readers of Crooked Timber in either Budapest or Zürich who would be interested in meeting up in person? I’m on the road and it’s one of the rare occasions when I’m not simply in-and-out of a town. Budapest options are this weekend or Monday. Zürich options concern next week. Drop me a note if you’re interested and we can figure out specifics. (Email info on my Web site or send a note to my last name @gmail.com.) For those interested in Budapest, you can see some of my photos of the castle district here.

Meeting up with Eszter in Budapest is fun!
Though I’m in the wrong corner of the continent just now, alas.

Sorry, can’t do (unless you can spring for a transatlantic ticket).

I’m not in Zürich, but to anyone anyone going there I recommend: Rote Fabrik, Cafe Odeon, Back und Brau.

Doug, it’s been too long!
Barry, sorry, can’t do.
David, recommendations are appreciated, thanks. I’m quite sure I’ve been to Cafe Odeon, but no reason not to visit again. I’ll have to look for the other two as well. I’ll definitely want to go to a fondue place though, it’s that time of year and Switzerland is the place to do it.

Thanks for the photos. Budapest has its own kind of beauty.
A little bit of Hungary will be in Boston next week when Muszikas plays with the Takacs Quartet at Jordan Hall. We’ll be thinking of Hungary then.

gmoke, I think the city’s got a lot of beauty and I am good at ignoring the less desirable elements.:)
