Lovemore Matombo and Wellington Chibebe, the President and General Secretary of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) are facing trial on 30 July on charges trumped up by the Mugabe regime. You can help the struggle to free them by making a statement at We are ZCTU and joining a letter writing campaign.
Check out the photomosaic of these two brave men, made up of 2000 individual photos.

It seems the trial has been postponed. By the way, Brazil’s main Labour Confederation has already written to the Zimbabwean embassy in Brasilia.

Yes – as Celso says, they showed up in court today (in itself a brave thing considering the beatings they’ve had from the security services in the past) to find that trial has been postponed once again – this time taking us up to 27 August. I guess it suits Mugabe even more to keep effective union scrutiny silent by just extending the unfair bail conditions, and he thinks people may just forget about them if it drags on. Make a date to check back again in August and keep up the pressure!
