It’s a shame Adobe didn’t release amd64 binaries of flash player 9 along with the i386 ones, eh? Considering all the effort they recently went to to bring us the new version, one would expect that they would have prepared for forward-compatibility by making the new code 64 bit clean.
reggie used to be my cousin from 1993 until 1997 when he resigned in favour of a congressional appointment to the house ways and means committee external advisory board you’re spendin’s outta control
Thanks, ogged. For some reason I keep getting sent to a Flash 7 (which I already have) download page when I click on these “upgrade” messages, but I’ll retarget my annoyance appropriately and get things worked out.
In his blog, one of the programmers working on the Linux version of Flash recently talked a bit about why a 64-bit version is going to take some work. An interesting read, if you’re into that sort of thing.

I’m getting tired of things that require Flash 8, which isn’t available for Linux.

I’ve seen him live a ton of times over the last 10 years, with his stellar band Maktub. Go forth and seek them out, if you haven’t.
